The Tories are shortly to unveil a far-reaching policy to put marriage at the heart of family life.
A high-powered team of lawyers commissioned by Iain Duncan Smiths Centre for Social Justice is to issue a report later this month which is expected to shape Conservative policy on the family.
It is said to recommend a sweeping overhaul of the law to strengthen marriage, including moves to make divorce more difficult and promote marriage preparation classes and family relationship centres, as well as tax breaks for married couples.
Condemning the modern mantra that marriage is merely a lifestyle choice, the report is expected to say that there is overwhelming evidence that marriage brings many benefits to couples, children, the wider family and the nation as a whole.
If the Tory Party accepts these recommendations, it will be an enormous and hugely overdue step in the right direction.
The family is the building block of society. If the institution of the family is broken, society breaks with it.
That is what has happened in Britain over the past four decades as part of a deliberate attempt by the intelligentsia to reshape society around the unrestrained gratification of adult sexual desire under the banners of , and .
As a result, nearly half of all babies are now born outside marriage; Britain has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Europe; and women and children are at far greater risk of sexual and physical abuse.
Children from fractured homes do worse in general in every single area of their lives. As the High Court judge Sir Paul Coleridge recently observed, the family courts are overwhelmed with cases involving damaged, miserable or disturbed children.
Yet for years the evidence of this catastrophe has been swept under the carpet or denied outright by those pushing this agenda. Anyone who drew attention to it was pilloried as a bigot who wanted to turn back the clock to some mythical golden age.
Marriage was progressively undermined. With divorce court judges deciding they were no longer prepared to make judgments about who was to blame for the breakdown of a marriage, divorce soared.
All stigma and shame were removed from unmarried motherhood. Cohabitation numbers took off, fuelled by a tax and welfare system which provided incentives for couples to live apart while married couples were penalised.
If the Tories are now really going to tackle all this properly, it would be an act of conspicuous political leadership. And to his credit, David Cameron has said consistently that he intends to do so.
The problem, however, is that his intention to repair the family is undermined by his support for gay rights.
His apology last week for the Tories original support for Clause 28, the totemic attempt to stop councils from distributing gay propaganda in schools, provoked widespread scorn not least from many gays who understandably regarded it as patronising and cynically opportunistic.
And it has also promoted a demeaning war of words between Labour and the Tories about whose agenda is more than the other.
The far more serious point, however, is that the gay rights agenda undermines marriage.
The Tories insist that this is not so and that the two sit happily together. Promoting gay rights, they say, is merely about ending intolerance. It is irrelevant to family breakdown, which is a heterosexual problem.
Undoubtedly, the overwhelming reason is the collapse of constraints on heterosexual behaviour. But it is surely wrong to deny any connection.
The key point is the difference between homosexuals as individuals and the gay rights lobby.
A liberal society should be tolerant of gay people. It is good that social attitudes are now far more relaxed. Peoples sexuality should be an entirely private matter and should not be the cause of prejudice or, worse still, aggression towards homosexuals.
But is the gay rights agenda really about tolerance, or is it about trying to stop heterosexuality being the behavioural norm?
Because it entails treating gay relationships as identical to heterosexual ones in every respect, any differences over marriage or adoption, for example are damned as discrimination and bigotry.
As a result, what started as a decent intention to eradicate intolerance has turnedintolerance as morality has been stood on its head.
Thus opposing gay adoption on the grounds that children need a replica mother and father is denounced as .
But hasnt that been precisely the problem which the Tories are now to their credit trying to address in heterosexual family life, that childrenneed a mother and father and that family life has been wrecked by those who strenuously pretend otherwise?
Gay rights activists claim that lifestyle choice means gay relationships should be treated identically to heterosexual ones.
But the core reason for family breakdown is precisely the view that marriage is merely a for people to choose or not from a menu of alternative lifestyles.
However, marriage is not a but a unique institution for safeguarding the upbringing of children. It has to be protected in turn by a web of law and custom, tradition and attitudes. That web has been destroyed by the all lifestyles are equal doctrine.
The collapse of sexual norms has destroyed the bulwarks around marriage. And the gay rights agenda is very much part of that process.
What is particularly worrying, moreover, is that any attempt to say so is demonised as . As a result, traditional Christians are now being discriminated against.
At the weekend the Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, called upon homosexuals to repent and be changed, which drew the immediate charge that he was promoting intolerance.
But since Christianity holds that sexual relations should be restricted to a man and a woman inside marriage, arent those who want to stop Christians upholding their own doctrine displaying intolerance?
It is heartening that real prejudice against gays is now so much less than it was. But how sad that gay activists are now perpetrating a mirror image of the intolerance once shown to them.
Shouldnt the Tories be defending Christians, representatives of the bedrock faith beneath the values of this country, against such bullying?
It will take great courage to tackle the causes of family breakdown. Even now, the progressive establishment is determined to bury the truth.
A two-part programme for the BBC by the respected journalist John Ware about The Death Of Respect, which identifies family breakdown as an important reason for the rise of aggression, incivility and crime, has been moved by channel controllers from a prime 9pm slot to the 11.20pm time because it is considered to be too dark.
The real reason is surely that its message runs counter to the libertine of progressive opinion. Thats why such circles will try to paint the Tories as heartless and bigoted over their attempt to promote marriage.
David Cameron should hurl that insult straight back. Its those who have destroyed marriage and with it the lifechances of countless children, not to mention the health and welfare of abandoned women and men, who are the truly heartless and bigoted.
But this applies tothose who have undermined marriage. Either lifestyle choice is to be condemned, or it is not.
The Tories are showing courage on marriage. They must be careful this doesnt turn into incoherence.

Since the bizarre squad car dash camera video of 30 year-old female police officer named Janine England kissing much older married Police Chief Timothy Escola was leaked, the Chief resigned, and England is no longer on the job. Timothy Escola was forced to retired Tuesday night after four years with the Perry Township police department near Cleveland, Ohia. Law Director Charles Hall says Escola's retirement closes an internal investigation. Hall says no charges are being considered against part-time officer Janine England, who was with Escola in the cruiser on June 2. Chief Escola hired Janine England back in 2005, said local media. Records also show Janine England is a married woman.

An anonymous tip prompted an investigation last week and a review of the cruiser's dashboard camera. Even more bizarrely, it appears both officers were clearly aware of the camera, with Janine England seen pointing to the camera and telling the burglary suspect that everything is being recorded.

The chief suggested the cruiser camera may have been rigged, a claim township officials dispute. Charles Hall said Escola or officer Janine England accidentally may have switched the camera system into a "covert mode," which recorded their behavior without the screen or lights coming on. Officers familiar with the equipment in Perry Township didn't know the feature existed until Thursday after a review of the owner's manual, Hall said. Because the system is less than a year old. "If you go to turn the device off and hold the power button, the camera goes into covert mode," said Hall.

More likely explanation, someone other than Chief Escola or Officer Janine England put the systm into covert mode. And planned on reviewing the video on their return. They need to check if Officer Janine had any other love interested at the department.

In total 8 hours of video were recorded in the Janine England and Tim Escola incident. Emails between the pair discussing their apparent love affair were also released added to this scandal. So it appear the police pair are involved in a full blow extramarital love affair and this was not just an innocent few kisses from Janine England on her commanding officer.

And because of the leaked email, there might be additional parties involved in this extramarital Perry Township Police Department Sex Scandal.

When I was nineteen years old I was doing some research in the area of “out of body experiences”, and at that time I did experience what is commonly known as the “classic out of body experience”! (I would go on to have many more of them over the next ten years of my life!)
In my early twenties I further developed my interest in Psychology and the Human Sciences, and I developed an especial interest in the paranormal, ghosts, and later the occult sciences. I was curious as to the reality of spirits, spells, and magickal powers! I went on to study some of the Western Traditions of Ritual and Ceremonial Magick, Enlightenment, Mysticism, Religion, Eastern philosophies (including Yoga), and other “so called” ancient philosophies and practices, including Wicca, and/or “witchcraft”. Yes, even Voodoo was on my list of studies! I then and still maintain a genuine curiosity and/or fascination as to the reality of these “so called” unexplained phenomenon!
I was a member at one time or another of several different organizations such as the A.M.O.R.C., the A.A., and even O.T.O.! I wrote to and was answered by several different popular writers of the time on occult subjects; writers such as Donald Michael Kraig, Ted Andrews, and Gerald and Betty Schueler. I also pursued a degree in Psychology so that I could eventually work in either the field of Psychotherapy or Parapsychology!
My interest in ghosts came about while I was even younger, some time before my above mentioned interests came about. My interests in ghosts phased out as my interests turned to the paranormal, the Divine Mysteries, God, Religion, the Occult, Magick, and other documented human and spiritual powers. My conclusions, at that time, as regards ghosts, and “so called” pictures and videos of ghosts, was that it was at least possible for the human soul to remain here after death, in some visible form, and either haunt or communicate with us as all as good ghosts do!!! But? My research with certain occult practices, Yoga, meditation, and human and spiritual development proved to be far more interesting!
Nowadays I am somewhat convinced as to the reality of certain occult practices, and to things like Astrology, Tarot Card reading, and other forms of divination. I do not lend much credibility these days to ghost pictures and ghost videos in general! My feeling, ultimately, is that people do not hang around in some form or another upon their death, and if there is anything to paranormal disturbances or ghosts they would be better explained as either the mind itself - hallucinations, temporary delusions, etc. - or, simply “unexplained phenomenon”. Some of the better occult literature I have read refer to ghosts as being “shells of the dead” - i.e., a “leftover energy form of some sort that does not possess consciousness in itself!” Perhaps? To this day, no one really knows for sure!
Of course, such a question as to the reality of ghosts also brings up also the whole subject of the afterlife itself, and since that has proven to also be improvable, the only thing we have to go on as regards ghosts are the photos and videos that people manage to capture. That is, in many respects, going on “a persons word”, and is not scientific enough to amount to any sort of proof as to the reality of ghosts and/or spirits.
Ghost pictures and ghost videos, in my opinion, are mostly either a hoax, a brain malfunction, or even a technical malfunction of some sort. How come is it that there is still so much controversy on the subject? That is because the “so called” proof has not yet convinced us all? It is something that has been reported for thousands of years, and even with all of the footage and writings out there, no one is still really sure? Still, I, like many others out there, long for an explainable answer to the often eerie images we see in pictures and video footage of ghosts. Often, people even close to us claim to have had an unexplainable and often frightening encounter with the unknown!
Things like God, the Devil, and everything in between, has fascinated me for a long time. How about Tarot Cards, and who is Aleister Crowley, and how is Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin involved in all of this? READ ONlet me share with you some of my own adventures into the world of the unexplained, Magick, Mysticism, Yoga, Enlightenment, and Aleister Crowley; take a step into the real world of Astrology, the Tarot, Magick, Miracles, Peace, and Enlightenment!!!
About a year after I myself began experimenting with “out-of-body experiences” I became interested in a famous writer, occultist, and magician named Aleister Crowley. I sought to purchase every book that I could find by Aleister Crowley, and I also joined an Order practicing the Western Tradition of Magick called the Hermetic Society of the Golden Dawn. I later also became a member of Aleister Crowleys own Magickal Order, the Astrum Argentum, A.A., or Order of the Silver Star. This Order is still in existence today, and still maintains a great amount of secrecy in order to better preserve the heart of the Orders teachings. I was also scheduled to attend a feast and an initiation into the Order of Ordo Templi Orientis, or O.T.O. (Aleister Crowley later became a prominent figure head within this Order.)
As part of my studies, practices, and training, I learned something about ancient languages, practices in numerology, and I learned the “initiated” meanings of various occult symbols, astrological symbols, and religious symbols. I learned how to develop heightened awareness, focus, self-discipline, and concentration through the practice of certain observances and the practice of ritual magick. I also learned the art of divination, and Cartomancy - how to read Tarot Cards. (I believe that I may have been born with a psychic gift or a bizarre talent with the Tarot, and my own personal experiences and abilities with the Tarot have remained to this day unexplainable even to me; I always lay out an accurate reading, no matter what the object or subject of the divination is. I can only demonstrate this psychic ability with Tarot Cards!
My mother has had a couple of “prophetic” dreams that she shared with me once. In accordance with some traditions, I may have inherited the ability from her - for her, prophecy comes in the form of a dream, and for me it is demonstrated in the practice of reading Tarot Cards.!I have also experimented with pendulum dowsing and obtained “remarkably inaccurate results” - so astonishingly incorrect as to suggest psychic ability, but at the same time so undependable that I left my studies with pendulum dowsing to pursue my practice with the Tarot.

Reading Tarot Cards takes years to learn how to do correctly because of the complexity of the symbolism involved; the individual meanings of each of the seventy-eight cards, and the individual meanings of each of the positions, depending upon which layout method, or methods, you are utilizing Repetition, practice, and experience count for everything! The symbolism is deep and at times quite obscure - mastery also depends, theoretically, on a “psychic gift”. I can demonstrate extraordinary abilities with the Tarot, and I have done so for more than fifteen years. I want to write a small, practical book on how to learn and practice the Art correctly, and how to gauge your own progress in a scientific manner! Reading Tarot Cards is something that I know a lot about, and I am very well versed in other religious and mystical studies and practices in the occult sciences. I do not personally believe in a “Devil” or demons as some people believe, nor do I understand God to be as “personal of a person” as people sometimes portray Him, or think about Him. For the most part, occult practices have more to do with cultivating self-discipline, focus, concentration, self-healing, physical and emotional healing, and later even learning to heal and/or help others. There are exercises in fitness, Yoga, breathing, and meditation. And, yes, there are the practices of invoking and evoking forces, ritual, and prayer, working miracles, and divination. In some of these areas there is perhaps a lot of rubbish as far as writings and teachings go, but there also writings and practices that are gems; teachings and understandings that anyone can benefit from. True practice of the occult sciences is to initiate you to a path of self-understanding, self acceptance, self-discipline, and study! It is to place yourself onto the Path that eventually leads you to YOU, to Love, Peace, Strength, Honor, and Devotion; the One, True Path that brings us closer to ourselves, and to God, and teaches us to be more “Christ” like! This Path is as unique as each individual is, but the method of approach is very much the same for all, according to the traditions I, myself, am well versed in!
At least some people have heard of the infamous Aleister Crowley, and perhaps even the infamous “Aleister Crowley Castle”. Aleister Crowley was a famous writer who flourished around the turn of the century. He was also a world record holder in the sport of mountain climbing (climbing at least Kanchenjunga, and K-2, two of the tallest mountains in the world.) He was also world class chess player, and a big game hunter. He traveled the world, was wealthy for a time being, studied heavily in the occult sciences, as well as in other world religions, was often referred to as being a genius, and was once even kicked out of Italy by none other than Mussolini himself. Many know of him only because he was once hailed to be “the wickedest man in the world” in the tabloids of the 1940s!
The “Aleister Crowley Castle” is not really a castle at allsee my pic at the bottom of this page! Most people who have heard of the infamous “Aleister Crowley Castle” have heard about it because it is now owned by the famous rock guitar player for Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page! Though I myself once possessed a rare collection of Aleister Crowleys works, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin has collected an enormous amount of Aleister Crowley memorabilia. And, yes, he even bought Aleister Crowleys flat on Loch Ness - the “Aleister Crowley Castle”! (Aleister Crowley only lived in the “Aleister Crowley Castle” himself for roughly six months! The “Magickal Work” that he did there supposedly made the place haunted, and so even Aleister Crowley himself eventually left the flat!!!)
So, what did Aleister Crowley do during his six month stay on Loch Ness? Well, Mr. Crowley obtained a book called “The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage”. He was, at that time, aspiring to the Magickal Grade of Adeptus Minor. So, he sought out and bought a place to retire for six months (sometimes referred to as a “magickal retirement”) while he carried out the instructions in the above mentioned book; a six month Ritual of Magick in which the goal was to obtain to “The Knowledge and Conversation of The Holy Guardian Angel”
I understand a thing or two about this particular Grade Work myself, and if accomplished correctly, attainment in this Grade means simply that you now understand what Gods True Will is for you. In the next Magickal Grade of Work, you set out to rearrange your life in accordance with your Divine understanding. Attainment in this Magickal Grade means that you finally understand your strengths and weaknesses in such a way as to know what Gods will is for you; it is like finally understanding who you are, and what your purpose is, especially from the Divine perspective. This is all a rather complicated subject!
Whether or not Aleister Crowley succeeded in this Work or not was heavily debated within his own circles. But, the flat pictured below is where he settled down to undertake this Magickal Work. The Aleister Crowley Castle is purportedly haunted as a direct result of Crowleys Work there! I suppose we could all ask Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin if the Aleister Crowley castle is really haunted, assuming he himself has ever been there.
I recently heard about some connection between the Beatles and Aleister Crowley. Aleister Crowley does make an appearance on one of the Beatles albums. He is pictured on the album, “Sergeant Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band”! It is likely that one or more members of the Beatles knew of Aleister Crowley. After all, both the Beatles and Aleister Crowley are from England, and both parties experimented freely with drugs, at one time or another! I would guess that John, Paul, and Ringo may have read of Aleister Crowley, or perhaps one or more of them had even read some of his books? Well, there is no better an ending for this article as:

With time on my hands to explore astounding scenery and rationalize ways of expressing my reverence for it, I also wondered about the extent to which such feelings can even be expressed in a photograph, and the inherent desire to glamorize and idealize the resulting image to enhance its visual impact.
Let me first disabuse you of the notion of - a term now so loaded with ignorant prejudice as to be useless for any meaningful discussion. To put it plainly - every photograph is manipulated to some extent. There is simply no way to make the transition from reflected photons to a print or a digital file without some degree of subjective decisions on how the final image will appear. Anyone telling you their images are not manipulated is either exposing their own naiveté or trying to exploit yours.
More troubling is the fact that in many misinformed (if sometimes well-meaning) minds, common image processing techniques are somehow linked to such lofty ideals as morality or honesty. Let me be very clear: the fact that any method of processing was employed is in itself completely meaningless. Honesty is not a quality of images but rather of people; and comes into play in how the work is presented. A dishonest artist is one who deliberately misrepresents their work. Presenting a heavily-modified image as a documentary one is dishonest. On the other hand, presenting any image as a work of creative interpretation implies (to borrow a term from Ansel Adams) some departure from reality. As responsible (honest!) photographers it is our role to educate our audience on the difference.
And so, the real issue is one of extent - how much of a departure is ? A subjective question if there ever was one.
Answering for myself, I strongly believe that photography is the most restrictive of the visual arts but also has the potential to make the most impact with the viewer for one reason: a binding connection with real events, real elements, real light, and real moments in time. Any obvious departure from these realities will cause an image to be dismissed outright regardless of any other aesthetic qualities it possesses. The artists tools are primarily composition, and extremely careful adjustment within very narrow margins. The goal is to produce images that inspire without venturing outside the realm of the believable.
A skilled photographic artist, using nothing but available elements and light, the ability to successfully arrange their compositions, and the sense to apply just enough processing to dress up the final image, is still able to greatly influence the mood of a scene portrayed and express their own voice without offending their viewers sensibilities.The ability to imbue a photographic image with a personal touch is indeed what puts the in Fine Art Photography.
Even with such limited range of motion, results can be made to appear dramatically different. A skeptic will always wonder is this what it would have looked like to me, had I been there to see it for myself? Ill let you in on a small secret most fine-art photographers may never admit to - the answer is almost always . This is for a very good reason: if anyone could perceive, compose, isolate, notice, visualize, capture, process, and present the same image given nothing but the same opportunity - there is no art, and there is no need for the artist. We all take the raw materials from the field and work them into the final image in our own unique ways; be it minor adjustments of contrast and color saturation, or going as far as to remove distracting elements, diffusing light, changing the ambient color temperatures etc.
Some photographers indeed choose to take their light into realms of near-fantasy, creating works of breathtaking grandeur and glamor that may quite significantly vary from the original experience. Doing so successfully requires not only a mastery of tools but also incredible discipline and understanding of the viewers sensibilities. Such images are indeed works of creative art and should be regarded as such with no prejudice. Consider for comparison paintings of the Hudson River School artists - idealized imagery that stirred souls, was instrumental in the creation of the worlds first national parks, and incited the spark of romance and adventure in generations of explorers and pioneers. How many photographs can claim to accomplish anything near that or be remotely as memorable? I personally admire those who can create moving images, by any means, and who present their work honestly for what it is.
In my own work, I tend to shy away for excessive processing for one simple reason: I have always pursued photography of natural beauty because I find beauty and inspiration in the real things. If I didnt experience something myself, I have little motivation (and admittedly little skill) to manufacture it. I do work hard, though, to emphasize in my processing and presentation the things that drew me to make a photograph. I have no qualms about enhancing color and contrast (even to the extent of eliminating color altogether,) removing minor distracting elements to strengthen a composition or employing selective adjustments to improve visual balance.

Each was born in three consecutive decades, Elvis in the '30's, Farah in the '40's and Michael in the "50's. Each helped America to get through one of the toughest periods in our history.



In the 1970's the three converged on the American conscience and there was the passing of the baton from the first King of Rock 'n Roll Elvis, to the new King of Pop Michael. At the same time there was the emergence of the beautiful young woman from Texas, Farah Fawcett with her million dollar smile.



History often works in threes and between the Bicentennial celebration of America in 1976 and 1979 these three all helped turn around a nation. In 1976 Farah Fawcett was introduced to the world in the television classic Charlie's Angels. Elvis and Michael were benefactors and probably victims of strong managers and handlers who kept them isolated from the world and probably drove them to death with abusive quantities of prescription drugs. Both only wanted to keep their fans happy and seemed to tire of the demands on them to "stay on top".



They were both generous to a fault. Both had strong fathers but managed to isolate themselves from them as their careers unfolded. Michael was never able to experience a childhood as he was performing from the time he was 6 years old and it seemed he spent the rest of his life trying to capture what he had been denied.



Abusive parents were replaced by abusive managers but the music never stopped. Both introduced electrifying dance routines to their performances. Both elevated the choreography and staging of concerts to levels never before seen. Their performances became events, their endurance legendary. But in time both would physically breakdown because of the incessant pressure to be number one. Both were kept from contact with people. Both became trapped in their own creations of Graceland and Neverland.



If adversity built success, super stardom came from the heart and soul of the entertainers doing what they do best, performing before their adoring legions of fans. On stage they created magic. They never got enough of concerts and touring and never stopped trying to increase their contact with fans. But alas they were never able to break free of the incredible parasites who surrounded them and viewed them as a commodity and meal ticket.



What they gave us need not be bigger than life because it was hope, inspiration and knowledge that here was someone who made it, their way, and who left a legacy of their body of work that will survive the ages. Honor them for what they gave, not who they were. Two shy kids from poor backgrounds and struggling towns became King of the world of music and set the standard for success for all time.



Let us hope now that Michael and Farah have joined Elvis on the Road to Kingdom Come and in that Kingdom they find what they never had in life, the peace and love they so richly deserve. They have touched the world and we all owe them a debt of gratitude for what they have done.

When you live in a small town one of the advantages is you have large lots. It means more grass cutting but also you have room for other things too. Like a large deck and in my case a tool shed.
